Shri Baburao Maharaj used to accompany Shri Rao Rambhaji, a noble deployed with Adil Shah of Bijapur, when on a recovery tour within the surrounding villages. Shri Baburao Maharaj being a loyal and sincere devotee of the Lord Gopalkrishna, always took with him, a silver Shrine of Murlidhar and worshipped the same piously. He once considered in building a temple of the Lord Gopalkrishna at his village, Girvi and installing a Shrine carved in black basalt (Shaligram). However, he became quite impatient as the desired stone was not available anywhere, despite the hunt for years together. He still pursued his prayer to Lord Krishna. 

On the third day of the bhajan, a call was herd, which followed for further few days. Baburao initiated an excavation by labours on the site, which in turn resulted in addressing a complaint straight to Adil Shah by some miscreants, who always are engaged in complaining against noble work. An officer visited the spot immediately and terminated the excavation. Baburao then rushed to Bijapur and applied to the king to seek royal permission for only to get a black stone (Shaligram) for Shrine. His intention of the excavation was not any wealth hunt.

श्री . बाबुराव यांनी शिल्पकारांना स्वतंत्र जागा, इंधन आणि स्वयंपाकासाठी आवश्यक वस्तू पुरवलया. ईष्वराने स्वमः च ही मूर्ती घडविल्याने एका रात्रीत ही दिव्य मूर्ती साकार झाली . दुसर्‍या दिवशी पहाटेच श्री .बाबुराव यांना मूर्ती पाहण्यासाठी आमंत्रित केले गेले .

श्री .बाबुराव यांना मूर्ती कडे पाहून अतीव आनंद झाला, क्षणभर आपण गो - लोकांत आहोत आणि समोर श्रीकृष्ण पहात आहेत असे त्याना जाणवले . आपल्या मानस पूजेमध्ये वर्षानुवर्षे ज्या स्वरूपाचे ध्यान केले तेच समोर साक्षात उभे आहे. श्री. बाबुरावयानी परभ्रम्हास साष्टांग प्रणाम केला । श्री. बाबूराव यांना आपले जीवन कृतार्थ झाल्येचे जाणवले.

The sculptors put two conditions, first that they would try their best to carve a Shrine within the stipulated time limit, which also required exclusive area, where they would cook food for themselves and second they aren't disturbed by anybody till the completion of work.

मूर्तीचा व दागिन्यांची शैली वृंदावन / मथुरा पद्धतीची असुन पीतांबहारी मूर्तीतच कोरलेला आहे. श्रीमदभागवत, हरी- विजय व गर्ग - संहित श्रेष्ट् ग्रंथातील वर्णनासारखीच ही मूर्ती आहे. दोन्ही हात अशा प्रकारे दिसतात की ते बासरी वाजवत आहेत. तसेच तळवे स्पष्ट दिसत आहेत. दोन्ही गायींच्या चेहर्‍यावरील भाव दर्शवतात कि त्या बासरी वादना पूर्णपणे एकाग्रतेने ऐकत आहेत. तसेच पायाखालील एका चार लहान मानवी आकृत्या देखील दिसतात. त्यापैकी एक जय आणि विजय (श्रीविष्णूचे द्वारपाल) आणि दुसरे दोन शिल्पकार असल्याचे मानले जाते. अतिरिक्त वैशिष्ट्य हे की , मंदिर म्हणजे हरी (विष्णू) आणि शिव (हर ) यांच्या एकात्मतेचे दुर्मिळ दर्शन आहे. इतर मंदिराप्रमाणे श्रीगरुड आणि हनुमंत दिसतात (श्री गोपालकृष्ण शिवपिंडीच्या साकुकेवरच विराजमान आहेत. ) तसेच शिव व नंदी पण उपस्तित आहेत । भगवान राम किंवा श्रीकृष्णासमोर शंकर व नंदी उपस्तित असलेले , हे एकमेव ठिकाण आहे. समोरच्या मंदिरात भगवान शिव आणि नंदी व गरुड आणि हनुमंतही आहेतंच. सर्वात मंहत्वाचे म्हणजे कृष्णाच्या मुखावर विलक्षण _प्रसन्नता आहे. त्यामुळेच पू . गोविंदकाका उपळेकर व जेष्ठ अध्यात्मिक वाय्क्तीनी हे मंदिर दक्षिण भारताचे वृन्दावन आहे असे यथार्थ वर्णन केले आहे

मंदिर निर्मितीचे कार्य श्री. बाबुराव यांनी हाती घेतले व ते वेगाने पूर्णत्वास गेले. कारण भगवानाची पूर्ण कृपा प्राप्त होती. वैशाखातील पूर्णिमा हा दिवस प्राण प्रतिष्ठा करण्यासाठी निश्चित केला गेला. बैसाखी पूर्णिमा हा दिवस अत्यंत पवित्र मानला जातो. श्री. बाबुराव यांना संकेत मिळाले की त्त्यांचे मिळाले की त्यांचे कार्य या दिव्य मंदिर स्थ्यापने नंतर पूर्ण झाला आहे. नंतर ते पूर्ण अनुसंधानात राहील व श्रीहरी कडून आज्ञा मिळताच संजीवनी समाधी घेतली. बांधकाम करताना मंदिरात तळघरची सोय आप्ल्या समाधी साठी श्री. बाबुराव यांनी केली होती । हा दिवस होता बैसाखी कृष्णा प्रतिपदा जो नारद जयंतीचा पवित्र दिवस आहे . दुसरी समाधी गणपतीच्या समोरील मंदिरात स्थित आहे. तिसरी समाधी आहे ती श्री.बाबूराव यांचे चिरंजिवाली तिसरा व चौथा समाधी आहे गरुड हनुमानाच्या मूर्तीशेजारी स्थित आहे ती नातू व पणतू यांची आहे. सलग चार पिढ्यांची समाधीची पार्श्वभूमी असलेले हे एक दुर्मिळ स्थान आहे. या दिव्या स्थान्याची दर्शनासाठी योगीराज पू.शंकरमहाराज (धनकवडी ) आवर्जून दर्शनासाठी येत असत. पुण्यातील विख्यात वैज्ञानिक डॉ. आर. एन शुक्लाजी यांनी आधुनिक उपकरणच्याद्वारे संक्षोधान केले. त्यांचे निरीक्षण नोंदवले आहे. फेब्रुवारी २०१२ मध्ये सविस्तर सर्वेक्षण करण्यात आले की हे मंदिर एक वैश्विक उजैचे दुर्मिळ केंद्र असून सकारात्मक आणि आभा (ऑरा ) आणि कंपने स्पष्टपणे जाणवत आहेत. हे मंदिर दक्षिण भारतातील वृंदावन आहे व या पवित्रनम स्थानी केलेला उपासना त्वरीत फलप्रद होते. श्री. देशपांडे कुटुंबाने हा वारसा ६०० वर्षांहून अधिक काळ जपून ठेवला आहे . . तसेच श्री जयंतराव देशपांडे यांनी अलिकडील काळात सातत्याने वैदिक अनुष्ठान व होम-हवन करून ही ऊर्जा व साकारत्मना वाढवण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आहे

The function of Baisakhi is considered a significant one which is celebrated in a lively atmosphere and magnificence from the Narasimha Jayanti (i.e. the 14 day of the white fortnight of Vaishakh). During the four days of this celebration, the idol-installation day is observed followed on Vaishakhi pornima. Followed by the Samadhi day of Baburao Maharaj on the 1st day of the black fortnight of Vaishakh. A Parikrama (circumambulation) is performed around the temple after Pooja and mahaprasad.

वैशाख कृ. प्रतिपदेस श्री.बाबुराव यांचा संजीवन समाधिची विशेष पूजा करण्यात येते . सायंकाळी ४ वाजता कीर्तन सुरू होते. बालगोपाळांचे विविध खेळ खेळले जातात. त्यात फुगड्या, टिपन्या, रांधा कृष्ण _ सवांद, तसेच कृष्णा -पेंद्या संवाद गवळण इ. खेळ सादर केले जातात दहीहंडी कार्यक्रम पण केला जातो. "काला प्रसाद" वितरित करतात. भजन-कीर्तन सेवाही केली जाते

ज्ञानेश्वरी ग्रंथच्या सखोल वाचनाचा उत्सव (७ दिवस) श्रावण कृष्ण प्रतिपदा ते जन्माष्टमी या काळात उत्साहाने केले जाते. या पारायणात बरेच लोक भाग घेतात. जन्माष्टमी उत्सवानंतर पारंपारिक प्रसाद वाटप केला जातो. तसेच काकडआरती कार्तिकच्या संपूर्ण महिन्यात दररोज पहाटे केले जाते. बरेच अबालवृद्ध लोक या कार्यक्रमास उपस्थित असतात. कार्तिक महिन्यात दिवाळीचा सण येत असल्याने, वेगवेगळ्या प्रकारच्या मिठाई देवाला अर्पण केल्या जातात व नंतर हा प्रसाद भक्तमंडळींना दिला जातो.

A trust of the temple has been registered in accordance with the government rules, and the transactions audited regularly. A body of trustees comprised of Late Rajaram Vinayak Deshpande, Shri Ramesh Kamlakar Deshpande and Shri Amrit Deshpande was in existence during the pre-rejuvenation period of the temple. The trust was running into losses with very with inadequate
income and as a result no maintenance and repairs. However, the settlement of the daily expenditure on the worship and allied expenses meagre income was a difficult task, however every generation continued to conduct annual festivals.

An immediate organisational and the functional change over was essential along with the rejuvenation of the temple. At the same time, it was in a critical and neglected condition which by favour of the Lord Gopalkrishna could be brought up to a favourable one after the accelerated action taken by the Deshpande couple (Mr Jayant & Mrs Sunita Deshpande). A fresh managing body of the temple came into existence which comprised of the Deshpande couple, Shri Mukund Joshi with Shri Raghunath Deshpande as the General Secretary and Shri Nikhil Deshpande as the assistant Secretary, the inceptor of the new website of the temple in November 2011. The then assistant charity commissioner. Shri Deodhar visited the temple in July 2006, followed by a visit of his successor in 2009 by Shri Tijare who expressed their satisfaction over the present management and rejuvenation of the temple.

मंदिराची अत्यलप / नगण्य उत्पन्न ही देखभाल व दुरुस्ती यामध्ये सर्वात मोठा अडथळा होता । याशिवाय बाह्य भिंती आणि अंतर्गत भिंती ढासळळ्या होत्या . परिणामी मंदिरात राहणे आणि कोणतेही कार्य / अनुष्ठान करणे जवळजवब अशक्य झाले होते. म्हणूनच तात्कळ जीणोद्वाराही करणे अत्यावश्यक झाले होते . याबाबतचा विचार श्री.विनायक महादेव उर्फ ​​भाऊ यांचे नातू श्री. जयंत देशपांडे यांचा मनात वर्षानुवर्षे रेंगाळत होता, कारण ते बालपणापासूनच त्यांचा ओढा अलौकिक व भगवान गोपाळकृष्णाकडे झुकलेला होता. त्यामुळे कै.श्री विनायकराव यांचा ठाम विश्वास होता की योग्य वेळ आल्यावर श्री जयंत देशपांडे हे जीणोद्वाराही कार्य करतील. तथापि हे एक मोठे व बिकट काम फक्त श्रीकुष्णकृपानेच पार पडणारे होते. त्यामुळे श्री. जयंत यांनी कित्येक वर्षे अनेक अनुष्ठाने केला आणि अनेक संतांचे आशीर्वाद घेतले. इंदूरचे महान सत्पुरुष स्वीकार कर्ता व दत्तवातारी श्री नाना महाराज तराणेकर आणि ब्रह्मश्री श्री दत्त महाराज कवीक्ष्वर यांचे आशीर्वाद प्राप्त केले, त्यानुसार मंदिराची दुरुस्ती व पुनर्विकास करण्यात आले. पाणी, वीज, स्वयंपाकघर, स्नान गृह इत्यादी अत्यावश्यक सुविधा देखील उपलब्ध करुन देण्यात आल्या. .तसेच यापूर्वी कोसळलेले शिखर तज्ञांच्या मतानुसार पुन्हा बांध्यात आले।

२००६ च्या मध्यामध्ये मंदिराचे नवीन मुख्य प्रवेशद्वार स्थापित केले गेले. ३० जुलै २००६ रोजी संपूर्ण वैदिक मंत्रोच्चारांनी शिखरावर नूतन कळसाची विधीवत स्थापना केली गेली. तत्पूर्वी गावात कलशांची मिरवणूक काढण्यात आली. त्यानंतर आरती झाली आणि त्यानंतर ५१ सुवासिनीनी कळसाचे औक्षण/पूजन केले आंध्र प्रदेशातील एक घोर आध्यात्मिक व्यक्तिमत्त्व श्री. दिनकरस्वामी. यांचे शुभह्स्ते कलश स्थापना झाली व या ऐतिहासिक कार्यक्रमाची सांगता गोपाळकृष्ण गिरवी मंदिरावरील पुस्तकाच्या प्रकाशनानंतर झाली आणि त्यानंतर महाप्रसाद वाटप केले गेले. महाराष्ट्रातील दुर्गम भाग व देशाच्या विविध भागातून काही भाविक जमले होते. कलश स्थापनेच्या वेळी भगवान गरूड (भगवान विष्णू यांचे वाहन) यांचे आकाशान दर्शन झाले असा अनुभव त्यांनी व्यक्त केला । त्यानंतर २००८ मध्ये गरूड-हनुमंत, शंकर-नंदी आणि गणेश यांचे मंदिरांचा जीणोद्वाराही करण्यात आला । अलीकडेच धार्मिक अनुष्ठाने वाढवण्याचा प्रयत्न खालील पद्धतीने केला जात आहे

1. Abhishek on all Ekadashi across the year
2. Gita and Vishnusahatranam Pathan at frequent intervals
3. Bhagwat Saptah on 9 occasions.
4. Pawan and Maharudra anushtans.

After a lapse of many years, a "Shreemad Bhagwat Saptah" was conducted on eight occasions along with yajnas in the year 

1. 2005 by Hari Om Swami
2. 2006 by Dr R.L Joshi
3. 2007 by Anant Shastri Parkhi
4. 2008 by Narayan Shastri Godbole
5. 2009 by Anant Shastri Parkhi
6. 2010 by Vishnu Shastri Asolekar
7. 2011 by Mukund Kaka Jatdeolekar
8. 2013 by Padmakar Kundikar Shastri. 

All the above Bhagwat Katha anusthan and various yajnas created positive energy and also resulted in a partial development in the quantity of rainfall in this area.

श्रीमद् भागवत सप्तहाच्या आयोजनाला चांगला प्रतिसाद मिळाला आणि श्रोत्यांना मोठे समाधान मिळाले असे त्यांनी व्यक्त केले. गावकरी, विशेषत: जुन्या पिढीतील लोक नमूद करतात की ७५ वर्षांपासून या मंदिरात एवड्या मोठ्या प्रमाणात असे कोणतेही कार्यक्रम / अनुष्ठाने करण्यात आली नाहीत (आमच्या आठवनणीत आम्हाला असे कार्यक्रम आत्ता प्रथमच बघायला मिळाले) दरम्यान श्री.बाबुराव महाराज यांच्या आरतीची लयबद्ध रचना ईश्वरी संकेत व प्रेरणानुसार केला गेली. ती रोज म्हणण्यात येते. भाविकांच्या मागणीनुसार नित्य उपासना (अभिषेका आणि नंदादीप ) या योजना सुरू केल्या आहेत. श्री. जयंत देशपांडे आणि त्यांच्या कुटुंबीयांनी संपूर्ण जीणोद्वाराही तसेच अनुष्ठाने इ. कार्य केले . मंदिरात निधी नसल्याने तसेच कोणाकडूनही देणगी मिळाली नाही. परंतु नूतनीकरणाचे काम पुढे प्रतीक्षा करू शकत नसल्याने हे काम स्वखर्चाने पूर्ण केले. तसेच या कार्यात चि . निखिल आणि सौ चारुता या तरुण पिढीचे प्रतिनिधी यांनीही आर्थिक वाटा उचलला तसेच श्रमताही योगदान दिले व म्हणून विशेष कौतुक वाटण्यास पात्र आहेत .

Similarly, Late Smt. Radhabai Deshpande, a senior citizen, contributed some amount through her pension. Shri Jay Prakash Kapre and his wife also provided some financial contribution in the final stage of the rejuvenation.

The second significant stage was the completion of the dream of Shri Jayant, and his wife was the construction of a memorial of the sculptors just near to the well from were the murtikars/artsians disappeared. This came into reality on 27-5-2010 when many Senior Saints and also the devotees were present. It was achieved with co-operation of Shri Udaysingh Kadam and his family. 

The significance of the temple and its unique history is spreading to a larger area day by day, due to which a large number of devotees from various states are visiting for darshan of Lord Krishna. 

The spiritual preceptor Shri Veerjanand Nrisingh Saraswati an extremely respectable personality from Mysore visited the temple along with his disciples in October 2010 and published his book captioned " CALL OF GIRVI GOPAL KRISHNA" in south India subsequently.

Jagatguru Shri Shankaracharya (Karveer establishment) also visited the temple, and he was highly influenced by the Shrine and the delightful atmosphere of the temple. He expressed the desire of his stay during the period of 4 months (i.e. from the 11th day of the 1st fortnight of Ashadh to the 11th day of the 1st fortnight of Kartik). 

Mata Amritmayee, a swamini from the Himalayas, visited the temple and blessed along with her guidance to the devotees. Ascetics from various parts of the country visit the temple due to the far and vide contacts in the metaphysical field spreaded by Shri Jayant Deshpande.

Swami Govind dev giri-ji (Kishore Ji Vyas, internationally known spiritual personality) visited in march 2016 and expressed that for the first time he had such unique and Divya darshan of Lord Krishna.

In the year 2010, 2011, 2012 Ved-Swahakar was conducted by Shri Vivekshastri Godbole of Satara, accompanied by his disciples. Similarly, since 2010 Geeta and "The Vishnu Sahastra Nam" pathan is being done every year on various occasions in a year. Various groups from Pune, Kolhapur, Mumbai, Phaltan are visiting the temple to offer the service of pathanas. 

After observing a series of Vedic anusthnas and development work in a short time the temple as awarded "Adarsh (Ideal) Adhatmic Sanstha" in the year 2011 in a grand function which was held in Nashik at the hand of Swami Swarupanand ji.

To provide information about the temple across the globe, a website entitled " www.gopalkrishnagirvi.org" was launched at the hands of the hugely respected Achyutanand Saraswati during a function organised in the temple on the 24th November 2011, for the convenience of the devotees.

Shri Dilip Apte of Miraj senior personality of The Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta and The Bhagwat Visited this temple along with his disciples for the religious meditation and conducted the Gaytri Yajana in July 2012

It is appealed to the sadhakas that they may participate in the various projects and schemes of the temple for their spiritual progress. Keeping national and social vision in mind, the various Yajanas and anuthanas the Sankalp is made to prey for national welfare, promotion of Vedic heritage and Geeta Sandesh.

Dr G B Deglulkar a prominent personality in the field of "Murti Shastra" (Sculpture) visited the temple in the year October 2013, and he was highly impressed to have darshan of Lord Krishna in Girvi. He opined that this was a very unique murti.

Dr R.N. Shukla, an eminent spiritual scientist, visited in the year 2013 and expressed that epicentre of global energy and the aura and vibrations of the temple are very powerful. Dr. Shukla subsequently visited thrice and has appealed and expressed to sadhakas that this temple is "Vrundavan of South India" and for their won progress they should take darshan of Girvi Gopal Krishna.

Releasing the importance and uniqueness of this temple, Divya Som Trust, had performed the world's first Soma Abhishek in August 2017 wherein many renowned vedic and ayurveda-acharya pandits were present.
